Well I broke the database.
Technically I broke the mysql server installation to such a point that logging into mysql was impossible and back ups could not be made.
I was able to save the physical files, and if you can’t tell, WordPress seems to be completely unaffected by the migration to a fresh installation of Ubuntu. The Forums, on the other hand, are a different story. If you visited anytime of this past week, you probably saw some funny thing happening. Themes not showing, data missing, various sql errors, etc. I spent many hours trying to correct the issue and to fix the old phpBB database. Alass, I could not. I have chosen to start fresh with the Forums (even though no one visits!!! Seriously pop on over and have some discussion!). I put the categories and the forums back, but none of the users or posts are there.
I have some information archived on the posts, but because they were out of date, and really didn’t hold any relevant information for today’s topics, I decided it was time to let it go.
It’s time to start fresh! Let’s get this party started!
I also took the time to Update the WordPress and phpBB installations while I was at it.
